DAKAR, SENEGAL \u2013 11 August 2025 \u2013\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

The Ministry of Health and Social Action (MSAS) and the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (YOGOC) have formalised their partnership by signing a framework agreement. This major agreement aims to ensure that the first Youth Olympic Games to be held on the African continent have optimal medical coverage in line with international standards.<\/b><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

This agreement formalises a collaboration that is already well underway, following the recommendations of the Interministerial Council held in October 2024. Drawing on the expertise, human resources and experience of the Ministry of Health, it aims to establish a robust, integrated medical system.<\/span><\/p>

Mr. Ibrahima Wade emphasised the importance of this alliance. <\/span>\u00ab\u00a0Pooling skills within public administration is essential for building a lasting legacy and national expertise, enabling us to manage large-scale events with excellence,\u00a0\u00bb <\/span><\/i>said<\/span> the General Coordinator of YOGOC Dakar 2026.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

This collaboration between the MSAS and the YOGOC involves mobilising public and private healthcare facilities \u2014 notably the National Oncology Centre in Diamniadio, which has been designated the official hospital \u2014 as well as deploying qualified healthcare personnel and validating medical protocols and logistical procedures for supplying medicines.<\/span><\/p>

The<\/span> The Minister of Health and Social Action, Dr Ibrahima Sy, is delighted with the signing of this agreement. <\/span>\u00ab Beyond the sporting and festive dimension, these Games will be a full-scale test of our logistical, health and organisational capabilities. They require an unprecedented mobilisation of all the human, material and institutional resources necessary to ensure that the competitions run smoothly in optimal conditions in terms of health, safety and performance,\u00a0\u00bb<\/span><\/i>he said. He recalled the symbolic significance of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), an unprecedented act of confidence by the International Olympic Committee in Senegal and the entire African continent.<\/span><\/p>

The event is expected to attract more than 2,700 young athletes, as well as thousands of officials, volunteers and spectators. To oversee this initiative, the minister has officially set up a multisectoral steering committee, which is co-chaired by the Secretary General of the MSAS and the YOGOC Coordinator. The committee will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the medical programme in accordance with international standards.<\/span><\/p>
