Sophie Gueye has been named an official ambassador for Dakar 2026. She is an activist who fights for the inclusion of children with congenital ichthyosis through her association \"Les Racines de l'espoir\". Sophie Gueye has created a solidarity network that has enabled her to build numerous schools and mosques in villages across Senegal's 14 regions. Chosen by the Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (YOGOC) for her outstanding work in favour of education and inclusion, Sophie Gueye is delighted to join the Dakar 2026 adventure. A passionate tennis and football fan, she appreciates the opportunity to promote the causes she cares about through the Youth Olympic Games platform. <\/strong><\/p>

What does it mean to you to be chosen as an Ambassador for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>

I am honoured and proud to have been chosen as an ambassador for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. I am deeply touched that the Organising Committee has chosen me, and I am even happier because we share common values.<\/p>

Through your association \"Les Racines de l'Espoir\", you do a lot of work for vulnerable groups, including underprivileged children. Will the Youth Olympic Games be a platform to spread some of your messages?<\/strong><\/p>

Yes, of course! I see the Youth Olympic Games as the greatest opportunity to make our messages more visible. Personally, I work with children who suffer from a rare disease called congenital ichthyosis. It is an unknow disease and those who suffer from it are isolated and stigmatised. Today, we want to use the Youth Olympic Games to transmit different messages to make these children feel less alone, as they will be invited to all the preparatory activities for the Youth Olympic Games. It will be a wonderful opportunity for them to show the world that you can be born different and still have the same rights and be well integrated in the society. That's why I say we share the same values, because the Youth Olympic Games has this aspect of inclusion that means a lot to me. I feel that this collaboration with the YOGOC will be a wonderful adventure.<\/p>

For the first time in history, Senegal will be hosting an Olympic event on the African continent. What do you think are the keys to making it a great success?<\/strong><\/p>

Let's not forget that Africa is the cradle of humanity, so I would say that excellent organisation will be the key to a successful event. We have a challenge in front of us and we have to succeed because the rest of the world is waiting for us.<\/p>

Do you watch the Olympic Games? What is your relationship with sports?<\/strong><\/p>

Yes, like all of them, I watch the Olympic Games, even though I have no memory of them. In fact, I love sports in general. I used to play football when I was younger. As I grew up, I became more interested in tennis. Football and tennis are my favorite sports.<\/p>

What is your ultimate dream regarding all the awareness work you are doing?<\/strong><\/p>

My ultimate dream is to see more reception centres, more inclusive schools. That children's rights are better respected. I wish that we live in a country and a continent where fewer children suffer. I would like to thank all the teams of the Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee. Let's write the history of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games together. One last suggestion: never forget to do good around you!<\/p>
