THE YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES

The Youth Olympic Games are a multi-sport competition for young athletes aged 15 to 17. The event’s mission is not only to inspire and encourage young people, but also to promote the Olympic ideal and values. Dakar 2026 is an opportunity to showcase Senegal by celebrating diversity, friendship and hope, and will enable young people to contribute to the success of their Games through their aspirations, imagination and energy. Young people represent both the present and the dream of a better future. These Games have to inspire them to take an active part in building a more united and peaceful world, where sport is a vehicle for peace and solidarity.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Dakar 2026 has placed sustainability at the heart of its project by using as many existing venues as possible. Participants will be able to travel around thanks to a modern public transport system, including a regional express train and rapid transit bus service.

PREPARATION

The co-construction approach for the 2026 YOG between the CNOSS, the YOGOC and the IOC established a roadmap that offers hope for an ambitious legacy, so that the country continues to benefit from the Games long after they have ended.

Cooperation

Paris 2024
Cooperation agreements signed to share knowledge and experience.

“The Dakar 2026/Paris 2024 partnership marks the start of an ambitious collaboration between France and Senegal in the run-up to both the 2026 YOG and Paris 2024... We wanted to sign an agreement that was different and unique... This is because there is a real collective desire, in France, to provide the best possible support for the Dakar 2026 project.”
