Youth Olympic Games

The employability of Senegalese youth: YOGOC and ANPEJ work in partnership to provide opportunities, training and sustainability.

On Monday, 4 August 2025, the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (YOGOC) and the National Agency for the Promotion of Youth Employability (ANPEJ) signed an agreement at the YOGOC headquarters in Mermoz. This agreement reflects the shared commitment of both entities to provide employment, training and integration opportunities for young Senegalese people in preparation for the Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

This agreement embodies a shared vision: to make the Dakar 2026 YOG a true catalyst for sustainable legacy for young people. It is fully in line with the strategy of the YOGOC, which aims to leverage leading public institutions to maximise the impact of the event. For the ANPEJ, this is an opportunity to participate in a global event while fulfilling its mission to promote youth employment.

« Today, we are realising a shared vision of the YOG legacy for young people, » says Mr. Ibrahima Wade the General Coordinator, who recalls that this desire for collaboration has been in the works since September 2024.

The Learning Academy at the heart of the system

This partnership focuses on the Learning Academy's inclusive programme, which aims to recruit nearly 400 young people to join the YOGOC teams by September 2026. The ANPEJ will play a key role in relaying information to young people aged 21 to 35 through its presence in the regions via the “Senegal Services”network. An initial collaboration has already taken place during the interviews for cohort 2, to the satisfaction of both parties.

Beyond the unique experience gained during the Games, ANPEJ is committed to offering tailored support and targeted training to young people who participated in the Learning Academy programme. The aim is to ensure their employability after the event by highlighting the rare skills acquired during the organisation of a global sporting event. A joint monitoring group has been set up to ensure the proper implementation of the agreement and to evaluate the results.

« ANPEJ will spare no effort to ensure a lasting legacy in terms of jobs and innovative initiatives, such as the Learning Academy and the volunteer programme, » says Ms. Sinna Amadou Gaye, ANPEJ’s Director, presenting her agency as an active member of the Sustainability – Impact and Legacy coalition.

This partnership marks a turning point in preparations for the Dakar 2026 Games by placing young people and their professional futures at the heart of the event. The YOGOC and the ANPEJ are committed to a shared mission of training, supporting and placing young people at the heart of Senegal's development.
