The official mascot of the Dakar 2026 YOG made its first official trip outside Senegal. It traveled to Morocco, which is hosting the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2025.
This is the story of two lions roaring together. On one side is AYO, the official mascot of the Dakar 2026 YOG. On the other is his cousin Assad, the official mascot of the TotalEnergies AFCON Africa Cup of Nations 2025, held in Morocco.
The two lions met in Tangier on December 30, 2025, just before the Lions of Teranga's match against Benin. AYO then attended the match with the Senegalese supporters' committee.
A surge of brotherhood
This presence clearly brought luck to the Senegalese team, led by international player Kalidou Koulibaly, himself an ambassador for the Dakar 2026 YOG. They emerged victorious from the match with a score of 3-0.
This new surge of brotherhood between the Lions of the Atlas and the Lions of Teranga further reaffirms the ties that unite the two countries. The TotalEnergies AFCON Africa Cup of Nations 2025 runs until January 18, 2026.
