Dakar 2026 YOG: competition programme and schedule The 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) are set to take place in Dakar, Saly and Diamniadio from 31st October to 13th November. Discover the full schedule of events planned for the sporting competition. 

The Dakar 2026 YOG are fast approaching. This is the first ever Olympic sporting event to be held on the African continent. There are 25 official competition disciplines and 10 engagement sports scheduled. 

Gender equality and medals up for grabs

These Games place gender equality at the forefront: 73 men's events, 73 women's events and 7 mixed events are scheduled.

For 14 days, young athletes will compete for one or more medals in their disciplines. For this edition of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Dakar 2026, 153 events with medals up for grabs are scheduled.

During the competition, three cities will host events: Dakar, Saly and Diamniadio. These three cities embody three different visions of Senegal and sport in the service of excellence.

If you would like to participate in the competition as a volunteer, the recruitment platform for the ‘Jambaar 26’ programme is still open. The programme is open to anyone over the age of 18.

During the Dakar 2026 YOG, Jambaar26 volunteers will be deployed across all competition and non-competition venues and most official sites. There are 6,000 positions available in several sectors, including games and event operations, sports and athlete support, hospitality, protocol and media, and specialised and technical services.
