Morocco and Senegal strengthen sporting cooperation

A delegation from the Organising Committee of the Youth Olympic Games (COJOJ) is currently on an official visit to Morocco.

A meeting was held in Salé with the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to enhance both countries’ organisational capacities in managing major sporting events.

Two major sporting competitions are set to take place on the continent in the coming months: the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco and the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Senegal. As these high-profile events draw nearer, the host nations aim to share expertise and reinforce their operational capabilities.

To that end, a COJOJ delegation - including Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye, President of the Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSS), and Mr Ibrahima Wade, General Coordinator of Dakar 2026 - was received on Tuesday, 6 December, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé. The visit featured a meeting with Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).

Bonds of friendship between Rabat and Dakar

Mr Lekjaa invited the Senegalese delegation to work closely with the local organising committee of the 2025 AFCON, with the aim of facilitating a transfer of expertise and strengthening the strategic partnership between Morocco and Senegal in the weeks ahead.

He also delivered a detailed briefing on the progress of preparations for AFCON, reaffirming the strong ties of friendship and fraternity between the two nations.
