Training young people during and beyond the Games: the strategic importance of the 3FPT-COJOJ partnership

On Thursday 13 November 2025, a partnership agreement was signed between the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (COJOJ) and the Fund for the Financing of Vocational and Technical Training (3FPT). The objective is to provide sustainable training for Senegalese youth and enable them to acquire new professional skills through the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

The 3FPT and COJOJ Dakar 2026 formalised their partnership during a signing ceremony held in Dakar. This new collaboration is intended to strengthen youth training initiatives linked to the Games and forms part of a broader national strategy driven by the Senegalese authorities to promote youth employment and skills development.

This new partnership should help strengthen training for young people in the wake of the Games and is part of a dynamic initiative driven by the Senegalese authorities in the area of youth employment and training.

Over 300 young people to receive training

As the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, scheduled to take place from 31 October to 13 November, draw closer, the Senegalese State is reaffirming its ambition to equip younger generations with new skills and practical know-how, while opening up long-term opportunities beyond the conclusion of the Games.

Within this framework, COJOJ has launched the Dakar 2026 Learning Academy, a dedicated training programme designed for 419 young Senegalese participants and delivered in partnership with specialised institutions and training centres.

Participants in the Learning Academy receive training in areas such as communication, leadership, teamwork, as well as time and stress management. Through the newly signed agreement between COJOJ and the 3FPT, 366 of these young people will benefit directly from the technical and financial support provided by the 3FPT.

Building a lasting legacy

“These young people will be at the heart of the success of the first Olympic event ever to be held on African soil. Their role will be essential: to take an active part in the preparation, organisation and delivery of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games” said Ibrahima Wade, General Coordinator of the event, on the occasion of the signing.

“They will be ambassadors of Senegalese expertise, hospitality and our capacity to host a global sporting event with both passion and professionalism,” he added.

Through this agreement and the commitment to provide structured training to a large number of young people, the 3FPT and COJOJ are laying the foundations for a sustainable legacy for Senegal and for Africa as a whole, on the occasion of the very first Olympic event to be staged on the continent.
